The Game of Rummy
Let’s get the first hurdle out, rummy is not a game of luck but a game of skill. Like cricket, football, or any other sport, it needs the practice to perfect yourself at rummy. It’s not gambling, it’s about prediction, and having a good IQ. Indian rummy, also known as 13-card rummy, is the most popular variant. It derives its name from the number of cards each player gets. Any guesses? 13, of course. Rummy also has numerous variations of its own. But the most popular ones are – Pool, Points, and Deals. The different variations of 13 Card indian rummy game is as follows –
Pool Rummy
Have you ever collected money from your friends before a cricket match and then played it on the terms of “winner takes it all”? So, pool rummy is exactly that. Players pool their buy-in value and the total amount is set as the value of the table.Pool rummy is generally played in formats – 101, 201, and 61. When playing these formats, the players who hit 101, 201, or 61 rummy points, are eliminated from the game, and the last player is the winner.
Points Rummy
This online rummy game is played between 2-6 Players with one or more decks of cards. According to the rules of points rummy, each point is assigned a currency value before the game begins. Each player tries to arrange their 13 cards in sequences and sets. The first person to reach 0 points and declare, is the winner. The point calculation is based on cards that are not a part of valid sets and sequences. These points from unmatched cards are accumulated from each player who hasn’t won and assigned to the winner of the rummy game. The total points are multiplied by the pre-decided rupee value and the total amount is the cash prize that the winner takes home. Damn, that was a long explanation.
